Are you aware that a driver who passed there car driving test after January 1997 cannot tow certain large trailers and caravans until passing another test?

Kingswood Driver Training can provide all the necessary training for you to pass this advanced test. Our course’s can be tailored to suit the individual or company employee’s lifestyle from just a few hours at a time a few days a week to an intensive course lasting a few days at a time to reach the very high standard required by the Driving Standards Agency.

The test consists of a reversing manoeuvre into a parking bay and a braking exercise both of which are carried out on a off road area. You must also be confident in un-coupling and re-coupling the trailer to include all checks to ensure lights, brakes and tyres are legal to use on the public road. The test itself will last for one hour and will cover all types of roads including dual carriageways and possibly motorways.

At present there is no Theory Test to pass before taking the practical test but the candidate will be asked 5 safety questions before taking the trailer combination on the road.
